Likes and Dislikes of the Methods

What I liked from my method (audio-lingual method) is that the teacher doesn´t use the mother tongue, and that really helps students to be more critical in the target language because they are capable to develop their thinking in the target language; additionally, pronunciation and memorization are exclusively highlighted by the teacher. Thus, I think that is amazing to have these skills being taught as the students become more likely target language speakers.

What I didn´t like from my method (audio-lingual method) is that the teacher doesn´t teach the pupils some drills, such as: writing and reading, that are totally essential for the learning of the target language. Consequently, the teacher doesn´t lay emphasis on the grammatical points that are really important for writing and even for speaking in the target language. Furthermore, the repetition of dialogues can be boring for the students and that can led the students not to pay attention during the class.

What I understood from the Direct Method is that the teacher involves his teaching with the communication of the students, so that, they are able to engage a conversation to one another but in the target language, which is the center of this method. Likewise, what I understood from the Silent Way Method is that students develop their own learning, and that the teacher is just the mediator of his/her pupils´ learning process. Additionally, the teacher gives the students the material or tools, and the students are required to work by their own. To sum up, Students are the authors of their own learning.

  1. Hello Mister, you're right and I agree with you.
As you can see, every single method has disadvantages and advantages, in (audio-Lingual method) what I liked is that the teacher and his/ her pupils use the target language, and that's good because the students develop his hability to speak that target language, a clear example of that method is in our university, you know that in our career since the first moment we use the target language, and that helps uds to improve our target language that in our case is english. That's what i liked from that moment.

In (silence way method) what I liked is that the student is required to work by his/her own. the teacher is only the provider for things and tools!!
    Nice blog my friend!! (Y)

    1. Effecrively, Mr. Gio every single method has pros and cons, but what we have to do as future teachers is that we have to get the best of all the methods!

  2. Hello Felipe, I am in agrement with your point of you about the audio-ligual method because It encourages students how to speak in the target language and how to think in the target language too. Moreover, it gives the students how to memorize pronunciate through dialogues which is very important in order to students know more about vocabulary. On the other hand, it is necessary improve other skils such as reading and writing and the target language because it is important know that. as a conclusion the audio-lingual method provides many importan skills in the target language apprendiceship because it works a lot in pronunciation which are the most important skills that must be developed in a student, so, it is impotant to know that every method has its pros and cons.

  3. I totally agree with Felipe about the tools used by the English teacher or language that this teaching his students.
This method may be good for people who are excellent using these skills but what about people who are deficient in these branches sometimes develop and sometimes is actually very frustrating for those who do not.
one of the most difficult skills to learn another language is often the ability to listen and to speak, but one of them is met in this method.

As Felipe discussed in his entry the method (audio-Lingual method) has deficiencies in reading and writing, but despite all that is a good method to develop both skills before
mentioned, each method has shortcomings us, but it is very useful, I liked a lot.
